Friends Ministry Training

Enriching ministerial training for men and women in the Friends Church

What is the Friends Ministry Training Certificate?

The Friends Ministry Training (FMT) Certificate Program is designed to provide a quality educational experience for men and women in the Friends Church who are serving (or who feel called to serve) as pastors, missionaries, church planters, or other church leaders. It is the natural extension of the mission of Barclay College – to prepare students in a Bible-centered environment for effective Christian life, service, and leadership.

Benefits of the FMT Certificate Program:

  • Complete program (10 courses) in only 2 years (4 semesters).
  • Convenient: Each six-week class is 100% online, sequential (not simultaneous) and asynchronous (so that students can fit their coursework into their own schedules).
  • Free Orientation Class to become acquainted with Barclay College Online.
  • Accredited: Barclay College is accredited nationally through ABHE and by the Higher Learning Commission (hlcommission.org), a regional accreditation agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
  • Comprehensive: The 10 required FMT courses were handpicked by denominational leaders, pastors, and educators to lay the best foundation for ministry.
  • Affordable: Scholarships are available for participants.

What will you receive upon completion of the FMT?

  • Each FMT graduate will receive a special certificate of completion from Barclay College.
  • Upon completion of all 10 classes in the FMT program, each graduate will have satisfied the educational requirements for recording as a Friends minister in Indiana Yearly Meeting. Members of other Yearly Meetings should check to see if the classes will satisfy the educational requirements for recording as a Friends minister.
  • Each graduate will be able to continue their studies to receive a Bachelor’s degree.

Registration Information and Requirements:

  • Anyone who wants to be accepted into the FMT Certificate Program must complete the Barclay College Undergraduate Online Application form (at www.barclaycollege.edu/apply/online).
  • No prior collegiate study is required to participate. Standard acceptance procedures for other online undergraduate students at Barclay College will apply.
  • All students will be required to take the free one-week Orientation class prior to enrolling in their first content class (mentioned above), offered immediately before the start of each individual class.
