Kim Hansen

In July 2019, Kim Hansen was hired as the Dean of the Barclay College School of Nursing with the task of preparing the college for the accreditation process. Kim brought exceptional experience and excitement for the work of gaining accreditation for a program that was to be based in a rich spiritual, faith foundation.

Kim received a Master of Science in Nursing degree in 2014 from Fort Hays State University located in Hays, Kansas; a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree in 2010 from Tabor College, located in Wichita, Kansas; and an Associate Degree in Nursing in 2008 from Pratt Community College, located in Pratt, Kansas. She is a Certified Nurse Educator through the National League for Nursing and is currently enrolled in Liberty University’s Executive Certificate in Nursing Educational Leadership program, working towards a Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing Education.

As a practicing registered nurse, Kim worked in the acute care setting for two years and the long-term care setting for six months. As an educator, she served as an instructor in a Licensed Practical Nursing program and in two Associate Degree in Nursing programs in the face-to-face and online modalities in theory, skills laboratory, and simulation settings. Her leadership experiences include Online Education Coordination, Skills Laboratory Coordinator, Director of Nursing, and Dean of School of Nursing.

Sherry Ward

Affiliate Professor of Nursing

Sherry Ward joined the staff in the fall of 2021. She was chosen based on her strong Christian faith and her exceptional professional experiences.

Sherry has worked in healthcare for 42 years. She began as a nurse aide and ward clerk and then worked several years as an EMT for an ambulance service and as an EMT instructor. She received a Bachelors of Science in Nursing degree in 1986 from Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva, Oklahoma. She then received a Masters of Science in Nursing degree from Wichita State University in 2000.

Her official title is an advanced practice registered nurse and acute care clinical nurse specialist with an emphasis in neurology. She has been in nursing education for 24 years as both an instructor and a director.  As a nurse, Sherry has worked in many different fields: medical/surgical, emergency room, chemical dependency, college health, and home health. 

Elyse Birdsong

Elyse brings over six years of experience within higher education admissions and enrollment services. She earned a Bachelor of Science from Emporia State University.
