My name is George Milsap and I am originally from Quincy, Illinois where I started my basketball career at Quincy Senior High School. While playing basketball at Quincy Senior High School I achieved such honors as All-Conference Team selection, Team MVP, All-State 2nd Team Honorable Mention and 1st Team All-Tournament Team before I graduated in 1992.
Upon graduation, I was awarded a full basketball scholarship to attend Division 1 Western Illinois University in Macomb, Illinois. While at Western Illinois University I was able to lead the conference in field goal percentage, was Team MVP, Player of The Week, Player of The Month, 1st Team All-Conference and scored a career high 31 points against Troy State for a place in the record books.
I graduated from Western Illinois in May 1997 with a Bachelor of Arts & Minor in Physical Education. After graduating I attended a tryout in Chicago, Illinois for several NBA and Overseas teams. I eventually was picked up by an ABA professional team, the Delaware Blue Bombers, to develop into a two-way player. Three weeks before I was scheduled to sign my contract, I tore my ACL and caused severe damage to my knee, which ended my professional playing career.
Knowing my playing career was over I decided to get back into coaching and took the Assistant Coaching job at Division III MacMurray College in Jacksonville, Illinois. MacMurray College is where I met my wife Jennifer who I have known for over 20 years and share 3 beautiful children with; Camron 20, Auriana 13 and Ian who is 7. I might not have been able to play at the level I had before but the desires to still teach the game that is in me. While coaching at MacMurray College I helped the team to a 21 – 11 record and the Junior Team to a 7-1 record. Coaching helped me notice athletes weren’t developing the skills, they needed to be better at the game of basketball. That’s when I partnered and started Foundations Sports Training & Fitness to help athletes develop skills to succeed on the court in each position.
My wife and I moved to Indiana where we became members of Lakeview Church and have been for over 10 years. My commitment to Christ was found at Lakeview through life groups and strong Christian men that held me accountable. By God’s grace that allowed me to coach Indiana Faith AAU for over 10 years and a coaching position at Covenant Christian from 2016 – 2019 as the head JV coach and assisted with varsity. From there I moved on to continue working with Foundations Sports and spent the last several years as the Head Varsity Boys Coach at Horizon Christian High School.
