As programmed evangelical Friends, we are distinguished from other groups within the Society of Friends (Quakers) by our use of sermons within the context of our worship services. To our knowledge, there has never been a significant focus of research and resources dedicated specifically to the craft of preaching and communicating the Gospel of Jesus Christ through vocal ministry among programmed evangelical Friends. The Friends Preaching Initiative at Barclay College seeks to do just that.<\/p>\n

Founded in 1917 by Quaker settlers in Kansas, Barclay College is uniquely affiliated with many evangelical Friends organizations and desires to provide an intentional and practical leadership development strategy for the evangelical Friends Church. The Friends Preaching Initiative at Barclay College will strive to cultivate and support new and effective methods of communicating the Gospel of Jesus Christ and will be a valuable tool to explore and share the unique nature of evangelical Friends\u2019 vocal ministry.<\/p>\n
