The Lady Bears opened up the second semester with a tough non-conference opponent in Arlington Baptist College (Arlington, TX). Arlington came into the game ranked #3 in the most recent NCAAA Division II standings.

Arlington proved to be a very tough opponent for the Lady Bears. The Lady Patriots used their athletic advantage to attack the basket which led to 48 free-throw attempts. They also hit enough 3 point shots to keep the defense honest. Another factor in the Lady Patriot’s favor was a physical, aggressive full-court defense that gave the Lady Bears problems all afternoon. Arlington prevailed by the score of 94-49.

“First of all, that was very good team we played, but we continue to hurt ourselves by not matching the intensity and physicality of our opponents. I was happy to see some girls begin to understand that the effort they were playing with was not good enough. For a good stretch of that game I thought we competed very well with them. We have to find a way to stop allowing teams to bury us at the beginning of the game,” said Head Coach Brad Lingafelter.

The Lady Bears are back in action as they open up conference play this semester Friday, January 17th at Calvary Bible College (Belton, MO) at 5:30 PM CST. Then on Saturday they will face off against Ozark Christian College (Joplin, MO) at 1:00 PM.
