What:

A Church Multiplication Conference for previous and potential church planters, church and denominational leaders, students, and anyone else who has a heart for church planting and fulfilling the Great Commission through the Friends Church. The conference will feature inspirational messages, ???best practice??? workshops with speakers who have ???done it??? from around the country, and time for fellowship, synergistic networking, sharing, and dreaming. Recognizing that it takes all kinds of churches to reach all kinds of people, a number of different methods and approaches will be discussed. This conference will be informative, stirring, and help us refocus on God???s call.

Why:

This will be the first church multiplication gathering of its kind to attract evangelically-minded Friends from around the country who share a desire to build the Kingdom and who want to be faithful to do our part as Friends to fulfill the Great Commission. In the face of many challenges faced by Friends in every region, this may be exactly the right time to have a forward-looking emphasis that reminds us of our calling with a ???gates of hell shall not prevail against it??? passion. There are exciting flickers of this fire around the country and globe among Friends, but it is time to bring these sparks together. With God???s help, we need to prayerfully consider how we might shed a maintenance-mentality and stir up a strategic church multiplication movement.

Our Main Speaker:

Bruce Redmond is the Director of Church Planting for the Evangelical Free Church of America, Southeast District. He has directed EFCA church planting for 14 years, serving previously in the Rocky Mountain district. Bruce is convinced that church planting is one of the most effective ways to evangelize and make disciples. He desires to see tens of thousands of people come to Christ in such a way that a movement of new churches would sweep our country. Rather than a ???one-size fits all??? approach, Bruce has identified at least 12-14 models for starting new churches and believes that through the creativity of God and His people, the possibilities are unlimited. His principles and strategies have been used in at least four countries and in 15 states.

Bruce puts it this way: ???We believe the Spirit of God is raising up workers from the harvest field to begin new churches. We are experiencing all different kinds of strategies, different kinds of people, different kinds of visions and in all sizes of communities. The one single concern we have is the spread of the gospel through making disciples that make disciples and reproducing healthy disciple making churches???The mission of the church is clear and starting new churches is still one of the best methods to establish a healthy DNA of multiplication personally and corporately.???

Want to Come Early or Stay Late?

We know that some need to arrive early due to flight arrangements. We will offer some ???Pre-Conference Prayer Meetings??? and fellowship time on Wednesday afternoon, May 8 for anyone who would like to participate. In addition, one regional group has requested to be able to stay after the conference for a time of debriefing/fellowship with their own pastors and leaders. Post-conference Gatherings like this are possible by prior arrangement. (See costs below.)

Where:

This initial conference will be held on the campus of Barclay College in Haviland, Kansas.

Who:

Many people will find this conference stirring and relevant, including: those who are interested in church planting, have started a new church, plan to start a new church, or would like to find out more about the possibility of starting a new church. Pastors of potential mother churches, those with an apostolic vision to start a number of churches, or those who see themselves in a supportive role to start new churches will each have their minds and hearts stretched and encouraged!

What about students?

Undergraduate credit is available through Barclay College. A number of Barclay students are already enrolled. Both George Fox Seminary and the Azusa Pacific Graduate School of

Theology have agreed to provide graduate credit for any interested students, now and in the future for subsequent conferences. The conference will provide a strategic mix of younger and older leaders.
