The Barclay College Soccer team traveled to Moberly, MO on Friday to take on Central Christian College of the Bible in their final Midwest Christian College Conference regular season match. The stakes were plenty high, with a win and a little help from Ozark Christian College, who played Manhattan Christian College, the Bears would grab a share of the MCCC regular season crown.

All-American Senior goalkeeper Austin Ogle would have to watch this one from the sidelines because of a one-game suspension from a red card obtained earlier in the week but Senior Brandon Palmer stepped into goal and rose to the occasion, holding the Saints to one goal. Freshman Melvin Lara led off the scoring with a signature shot from the eighteen in the first half only to see the Saints tie the game up shortly after. The second half, however, was a much different story. The Bears netted six goals, including four from Sophomore Kingsley Assibey, another from Lara, and a penalty kick from Freshman Eli Dahir. In addition to the scoring frenzy, both Lara and Freshman Dallas Franco had assists on the game.

The win propelled the Bears to a 5-1 MCCC record. Across the state of Missouri, Ozark Christian beat Manhattan 1-0 to make a three way tie for first between Ozark, Manhattan and Barclay. Heading into the conference tournament hosted by Faith Baptist Bible College (Ankeny, IA), there will be a coin flip to see who will get the #1 seed and a first round bye.

On Saturday, the Bears played their last regular season game before they compete in the MCCC tournament. They traveled to Omaha, NE to take on Grace University for the second meeting of the year. The Bears beat the Royals back in early September 3-2 and this match had the same result, a Bears victory. Dahir led off the game with two goals and Assibey added another to carry the Bears to the 3-0 victory. Assibey and Freshman Forrest Turner also contributed assists in the match.

The Bears (9-3, 5-1) now head to Sinola, Mexico for a week of ministry. Upon their return they will head to Ankeny for the MCCC Tournament on October 24-26.
