We are thrilled to announce that Derek Brown will be joining the faculty of Barclay College. Derek will be the Professor of Pastoral Ministry and Chaplain, as well as holding the department chair. An alumnus of Barclay College, Derek graduated with a BA in Theology. He then went on to pastor at Macksville Christian Church, where he as been for the last three years. During this time, he earned his Masters in Religion from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary. The college also had the pleasure of having Derek serve as both an adjunct instructor and the part-time Director of Chapel Ministries last year. This year Derek has also applied to enter into the Ph.D. program at Johnson University, and if accepted, will be able to complete his doctoral work without interrupting his tenure at Barclay.
Derek is married to Jessica (Huffman) Brown, also an alumnus of Barclay College. They have been married for three years, and are currently expecting twins in November! In addition, they are the proud parents of a Chihuahua (Princess) and a Boston Terrier (Charlie). They have recently purchased a house in Haviland and
are excited to move into the community. Said Derek, “Barclay was such a influential part, not only of my pastoral education, but also my spiritual formation. It is my hope that my humble efforts can help impact students in the same way.” Welcome back Derek! We are excited for you to join the Barclay team!
