Kevin Lee's Biography
Geography - I was born in Wichita, KS, sometimes referred to as the Air Capitol of the World because of the aviation aircraft manufactures located there including: Boeing, Cessna, Raytheon, Airbus, and Bombardier
Aerospace Learjet - all of which supply 60% of the world's commercial airlines according to Wings Over Kansas.
Faith Trek - At the risk of being too blunt...I grew up in a godless and very dysfunctional home. However, it just so happened that when my mother began working full-time, by divine appointment, my saint, my great-grandmother began babysitting
me. So I count myself to have been very fortunate in my early years to have a godly grandparent who showed me the unconditional love of Christ. Isn't it amazing how God provides?
Early on I recognized a distinct difference between my house and my great-grandmother's home. I remember thinking that my grandma’s house was always full of light. My grandmother provided constant encouragement and affirmation, and a sense
of peace and love was always found at her home.
On one particular night when I was about seven or eight, while lying in bed, I began to be hounded/taunted as I heard my name being whispered in the corner of the room. I am not an expert on spiritual warfare, but I can tell you I was in it.
I yelled for my grandmother, and when she came into my room I explained what was happening. She led me to pray, and I asked Jesus to protect and keep me. I prayed to have Jesus in my heart, mainly out of a fear of the darkness. Let me
attest to the power of James 4:7, it is true, I have lived it!
My great-grandmother would take me to her church which eventually opened up the opportunity to begin attending summer camp. Just about every summer I would spend a few days at this camp meeting incredible men and women of faith. I found out
that most of the camp counselors were serving as volunteers while on summer break from Barclay College. My time at camp greatly influenced me to choose to attend Barclay, which was a surprise to most of my friends and family because Barclay
was a Bible college (and still is today).
While at Barclay I discovered a community of peers who truly desired to live for Jesus Christ - this was a completely foreign yet an intriguing concept for me. I initially felt out of place, but soon enough I had made friends, and I found
that it was God ordained for me to be there.
During a chapel service at Barclay I realized God was calling me to make some changes in my life, the conviction of the Holy Spirit was upon me, God was leading me from darkness to light, from death to life. I realized that I wanted and needed
to be on God's path, rather than my own path that was leading to destruction. On that day, I made up my mind to follow Jesus Christ from that day forward, I decided that God would now guide me in all of decisions and relationships. So
I turned away from a self-serving, self-destructive, godless life, and I received the forgiveness and pardon that Jesus offered me. And so tripping and falling, I started down the path of living life as an authentic follower of Jesus Christ.
Learning to Follow God's Plan - A year after graduating from college with a degree in business, while serving as counselor at camp, during a quiet time the Lord called me to work with his children. After discussing what had just happed with
my fiance, we determined to followed God's leading, and inexplicably at the conclusion of the chapel service we were immediately approached and asked about serving in youth ministry. Well, we put two-and-two together and decided to follow
God's leading through this door of opportunity leading to youth ministry. We were privileged to serve at a Friends Church in Hutchinson, KS, for four years, and later at a Friends Church in Hugoton, KS, for six years as youth pastors.
Following this time in youth ministry I was blessed with an opportunity to attend the Friends Center at Azusa Pacific University for more ministry training. While in southern California the Lord led us to a wonderful church called Friends
Community in Brea, CA, and He even provided work for me at a Christian credit union, putting the business degree to use once again.
Shortly after graduating from APU, we felt led to walk through a new door of opportunity and to accept a role at Barclay College in my wife's hometown of Haviland, KS.
Family - I have an amazing wife who truly radiates beauty, and together we have three amazing children. We also have a cat, dog, and two birds, so all the bases are covered. We have been exceedingly blessed and pray that the Lord will work
through us to bless others.
